Me and the boys

Mother's Day, 2007

My Story

Hi! Welcome to my site!

My name is Kasey, and I'm absolutely, head-over-heels in love with Barefoot Books!

The most amazing thing happened to me one day after a trip to the public library with my two oldest boys. One book, "My Granny Went to Market," became an instant favorite that night when we snuggled into the bottom bunk to read bedtime stories. I noticed a website listed on the back of the book--I went to it--and the rest is history.

Once I learned I could sell "My Granny Went to Market" and all the other amazing books and items Barefoot offers, I jumped--no, I leapt head-first--into my own Barefoot business. Barefoot has provided me a way to dabble in what I love so, so much: children's books! And, I didn't need a cool $200,000 to start my business!

So, this journey began in May 2006, and I hope it lasts a very, very long time. When I'm not telling everyone who will listen about our wonderful books and products, I'm working a bit doing my other passion--writing and editing. You know, it's how I pay the bills--but I love it as well. I currently work full-time for a service organization, where I write and edit for the marketing department. I also write children's books--in my mind--as often as the ideas come to me!

My family tolerates my multi-tasking quite well. Why wouldn't they? It's like a holiday every day when you're surrounded by Barefoot! My husband allows me to pile up cardboard boxes in the dining room/Barefoot inventory room, and my three sons, well at least the oldest two, have been thrilled by all the stories. (Our youngest just likes to eat books, but that's another story!)

When I'm not working or reading to one or all three of my boys, I probably can be found taking pictures of anything and everything-especially the kids!

My husband and I (and the kids) love to travel. Some favorite spots include our annual trip to Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. My husband and I also have a special place in our hearts for the "three Ms": Maui, Maine and Montana. I also jump at any chance to go back home to Pennsylvania.

My ultimate goal is to one day become a published children's book author and independent children's bookstore owner. We'll see how that goes ...

Until then, I'm going to enjoy my decision to "go Barefoot." Thanks for taking the journey with me!
